Journalist | Communications Consultant | Traveler
After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Florida, Helen Anne Travis wrote for five years at the Pulitzer Prize-winning Tampa Bay Times. Here she covered everything from breaking news and local government to fashion and music.
Daily she interviewed politicians and prisoners, held the hands of grieving parents and sat with mystics, mayors and Elvis impersonators.
Social media took off during her time at the paper and suddenly even Helen Anne’s mom had a Facebook profile. Intrigued by the storytelling and reader engagement possibilities the web offered, Helen Anne jumped at the chance to lead the social media, brand journalism and content strategies for brands like Sony, Panasonic and Canon at ProjectorPeople.com.
Helen Anne’s creative strategies helped her direct the company’s most profitable promotions, double the blog’s revenue and increase the company’s social media fan base more than ten-fold.
After five years Helen Anne went into business for herself, freelancing for some of the world’s best publications and leading content marketing campaigns for everyone from scrappy startups to top tech brands.
Personally, Helen Anne’s greatest passion is travel. Forget working for the weekend; she’s working for her next trip. Helen Anne studied abroad in Greece and France, worked as an au pair in Spain and a mother’s helper in Alaska. She’s climbed pyramids, eaten bugs and stayed up late enough to hear the early morning call to prayer.
